⛰️⛪A Quick Overnight Stop in the Unique City of Roanoke, Virginia⛪⛰️

On the seventh day of our 14-day trip, we had a overnight stop in Roanoke, Virginia, before continuing on to Hershey’s Chocolate Park the next morning. 😊🌆

As soon as we checked into our hotel, we were greeted by a stunning view from the window: St. Andrew’s Basilica, bathed in the golden rays of the setting sun. The spectacle was so mesmerizing that we couldn’t resist the desire to immediately explore this gem of a city. The church seemed to float in a radiance, and there was an aura of tranquility that enveloped us, disconnecting us from the bustle of everyday life. ⛪😌

As daylight faded, we headed to the Mill Mountain Overlook for a breathtaking view of Roanoke’s evening skyline. The panoramic vista before us, with the city lights twinkling below, was was the perfect end to our evening in Roanoke. ⛰️🌟

The next morning, we were on our way to Hershey’s Chocolate Park, but not before making a quick stop at Mabry Mill, VA, along the Blue Ridge Parkway. It added a bit of historical charm to our trip before we continued on our way.🌄
We were introduced to another unique part of American history where in 1905 the Mabry husband and wife, with the help of their neighbor Newton Hilton, began building a corn mill. Using only hand tools, water power and extraordinary courage, they completed the construction by 1908, and began adding a sawmill, which was completed two years later. Also on the territory of the mill there is a small barn in which you can see how it was possible to weave fabric at home. We looked at different spindles and examples of yarn, how this yarn was dyed, and also a couple of handlooms with semi-finished pieces of fabric.🍫🏞️
